Stig Andersen appointed Royal Chamber Singer
In
the first intermission in Friday's performance of SIEGFRIED Her Majesty
The Queen appointed Stig Andersen - who sang the title role - Royal Chamber
Singer. It s the first time since the appointment of soprano Inga Nielsen in
1998 that this honour is bestowed upon a singer. This honorary title can in
Denmark be traced back to the 18th century, and has been given to around 50
persons.

The Ring - now in a model theatre version
In May you can see the four parts of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen in
a model theatre version by Per Brinck Abrahamsen and Kasper Wilton. Each opera
takes about 45 minutes and the set design re-creates the original performance in
Bayreuth in 1876.

The countdown continues - today 50 days remain! For the first time in
about 100 years the four operas of Wagners’ Der Ring des Nibelungens can be seen
complete at The Royal Danish Opera. Wagner’s 14-hour opera tetralogy on the dilemma of power and love has not been performed at the Royal Danish Theatre since
1912.
