Following last season’s staging of Die Walküre, the Royal Danish Opera continues its journey towards the new waterside opera house with yet another piece of Wagner’s gargantuan work, Der Ring des Nibelungen. Alberich steals the treasure that belongs to the Rhinemaidens and forges a ring with the power to rule the world. When the King of the Gods, Wotan, learns of this, the battle for the Ring and world supremacy begins...

"The thoroughly convincing staging of Das Rheingold bodes very well indeed for the continuation of Wagner’s series of four epic operas, Der Ring des Nibelungen" wrote the music critic for Danish daily Berlingske Tidende after the premiere of Das Rheingold, which was also awarded the newspaper’s highest rating of six stars.
