The saga of Brünnhilde's family continues. Much has happened since curtain fall in Die Walküre. Siegfried has been born and has grown up to become a big, strong yet quite disturbed boy. He learns about love when he meets Brünnhilde, but his restlessness drives him out on the mission Wotan has intended all along: To kill Fafner and reclaim the ring that will bestow him with power over the entire world.

More than 40 years ago, Alberich forged a ring that renders omnipotence. The chief of the gods, Wotan, stole the ring from him but gave it to Fafner the giant as payment for the castle Valhalla. Fafner, transformed into a dragon, has since guarded the ring while both Wotan and Alberich have attempted to capture it...
